WAC Volleyball Players of the Week Announced

DENVER – Utah Valley sophomore outside hitter Kazna Tarawhiti and CSU Bakersfield senior libero Rafa Bonifacio have been named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Volleyball Players of the Week, respectively, for the week of Nov. 11-17. This is the third WAC Player of the Week honor of the season and fifth of her career for Tarawhiti and the first-ever honor for Bonifacio.

Tarawhiti, a Lehi, Utah native, averaged WAC bests of 6.06 points and 5.75 kills on .400 hitting in a pair of road matches last week. On Thursday, she tallied a season-high 25 kills against Seattle U, one off her career high. Tarawhiti also posted her ninth double-double of the season against the Redhawks, adding 14 digs. She followed it up with 21 kills on .425 hitting at California Baptist on Saturday. Tarawhiti currently leads the WAC in kills (3.82) and points (4.30) per set.

Bonifacio, a Sao Paulo, Brazil native, led the Roadrunners to a 1-1 week while averaging a WAC-best 6.22 digs per set. The former outside hitter, who converted to libero a month ago, tallied 39 digs against UT Rio Grande Valley last Monday, the highest single-match total in the WAC this season. It also tied CSUB's Division I single-match record. On the road at Grand Canyon on Saturday, she finished with 17 digs. Since converting to libero, Bonifacio ranks second in the WAC with 4.97 digs per set.

CSU Bakersfield's Brooke Boiseau averaged 4.22 kills on .325 hitting and 4.6 points per set on the week ... Kaira Moss of Grand Canyon averaged 3.13 kills on .388 hitting and 3.8 points on the week ... Kansas City's Alicia Harrington averaged 3.71 kills, 0.43 service aces and 4.9 points per set last week ... Julianna Salanoa of NM State averaged 2.38 kills on .390 hitting and 3.1 points per set as the Aggies went 2-0 ... Seattle U's Eve Kerschenbaum averaged 4.86 kills on .397 hitting, 0.43 service aces and 5.3 points per set last week ... Barbara Silva of UT Rio Grande Valley averaged 2.80 kills and 3.4 points per set last week.
