WAC Volleyball Players of the Week Announced

NM State sophomore outside hitter Savannah Davison and Chicago State senior libero Megan Klavitter have been named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Volleyball Players of the Week, respectively, for the week of Sept. 9-15. This is the first-ever WAC Player of the Week honor for Davison and the first of the season and third of her career for Klavitter.

Davison, a Toronto, Ontario, Canada native, averaged 4.10 points and 3.70 kills on .333 hitting with only three errors on the week. She posted 11 kills against both Grambling State and Portland while also hitting .476 against the Tigers. Against Lamar, Davison finished with 15 kills with a .361 hitting clip. She also posted a pair of double-doubles on the week.

Klavitter, a Fenton, Mich. native, was named to the Valley Forge Sports Invitational All-Tournament Team after averaging 7.08 digs per set. She opened the week with 23 digs in a four-set match against St. Francis Brooklyn. Klavitter then posted a career-high in a four-set match when she finished with 35 digs vs. Duquesne. She closed out the weekend with 34 digs in a five-setter at host Penn. Klavitter, who entered the week averaging 3.96 dig per set, now leads the WAC on the season with 4.95 digs per set.

Other offensive nominees included: Natalie Zimmerer of California Baptist averaged 9.70 assists and 1.20 kills on .409 hitting ... CSU Bakersfield's Hayley McCluskey averaged 3.73 kills on .292 hitting and 4.0 points per set ... Melody Horton of Grand Canyon averaged 2.90 kills on .298 hitting ... Kansas City's Alicia Harrington averaged 3.64 kills, 0.18 service aces and 4.1 points per set ... Eve Kerschenbaum of Seattle U averaged 2.92 kills and 0.31 service aces per set ... UT Rio Grande Valley's Barbara Silva averaged 3.36 kills and 3.7 points per set last week ... Jasmine Niutupuivaha of Utah Valley averaged 1.60 kills and 0.30 service aces per set.

Other defensive nominees included: California Baptist's Nicole Abreu averaged 5.10 digs per set ... Brooke Boiseau of CSU Bakersfield averaged 1.08 blocks and 0.50 digs per set ... Grand Canyon's Teagan DeFalco averaged 4.70 digs per set ... Alex Ratzlaff of Kansas City averaged 3.64 digs per set ... Juliana Salanoa of NM State averaged 1.70 blocks per set ... Seattle U's Kailee Kurokawa averaged 1.29 digs per set on the week ... Samaret Caraballo of UT Rio Grande Valley averaged 4.45 digs per set last week ... Utah Valley's Seren Merrill averaged 4.00 digs per set.
