DENVER – UNLV's Wyatt Marsalek and Tazman Abramowicz have been named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for Nov. 27-Dec. 3.
Marsalek, a freshman from Santa Maria, Calif., finished second in the 1650 freestyle at the UNLV Invite. Marsalek defeated competition from UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly, UC San Diego, Pacific, and Fresno Pacific. He posted a time of 15:45.68 which ranks third best in the WAC this season.
Abramowicz, a freshman from Calgary, Canada, placed first and second at the UNLV Invite. In the 3-meter dive he tallied 323.45 points for a first-place finish. He posted 249.55 points in the 1-meter dive to finish runner-up. Abramowicz competed against divers from Cal Poly, Pacific, and Fresno Pacific.
Other swimmer nominees: CSU Bakersfield's Kris Rogic finished fifth and recorded the seventh best time in the WAC in the 100 backstroke… Daniil Antipov of Grand Canyon placed second in the 100 butterfly at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals… Seattle U's Greg Raper recorded a program top-ten time in the 50 freestyle with a 20.40.
Other diver nominees: Air Force's Cole Armagost finished sixth in the 3-meter and eighth in the 1-meter at the Utah Diving Invite.
