DENVER – Air Force's Austin Dewing and UNLV's Nathan Bohn have been named Western Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for Oct. 15 - 21.
Dewing, a senior forward from Colorado Springs, Colo (Air Academy HS), scored three goals on the weekend to lead the league in points. On Thursday against San José State, he notched the first two goal en route to a 4-0 win and then on Saturday, he scored the opening goal in the 29th minute of a 2-1 win over Seattle U. He leads the Falcons with 11 goals and now has 28 goals in his career, which ranks him sixth in WAC history.
Bohn, a redshirt senior goalkeeper from Las Vegas (Arbor View HS), had a pair of shutouts on the road for the Rebels. Against Kansas City, he only faced six total shots and didn't have to make a save to earn his second win of the season and first shutout. He was tested a bit more at Houston Baptist, making six saves in a 1-0 win to help the Rebels complete the weekend sweep.
Other offensive nominees: California Baptist's Sebastian Wiesbock scored the game-winning goal in the final 10 seconds of a 2-1 win at UIW, also assisting on the Lancers' first goal … Grand Canyon's Josh Drack scored the Lopes' lone goal in a 2-1 loss at Kansas City on Sunday … Kansas City's Henry Ramirez scored the game-winning goal after assisting on the equalizer in Sunday's 2-1 win over Grand Canyon … UNLV's Jesus Partida scored back-to-back game-winners for UNLV in a pair of 1-0 victories at Kansas City and Houston Baptist … UT Rio Grande Valley's Kyle Edwards recorded the brace in Sunday's 2-1 win over California Baptist and also had an assist in Friday's 2-1 win over CSU Bakersfield … Utah Valley's Blake Frischknecht scored for the Wolverines in Thursday's 2-0 win over Seattle U.
Other defensive nominees: Air Force's Andrea Seazzu was solid again in net for the Falcons, earning a shutout in Thursday's 4-0 win over San José State and making four saves in Saturday's 2-1 win over Seattle U … Kansas City's Filippo Errico made a pair of saves in a 2-1 win over Grand Canyon on Sunday … UT Rio Grande Valley's Andy Rios averaged 5.0 saves per match in a pair of home wins over CSU Bakersfield and California Baptist … Utah Valley's Joseph Wheelwright made three saves to earn the shutout win on Thursday against Seattle U.
