DENVER – California Baptist junior guard Milan Acquaah has been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 25-Dec. 1. This is his first WAC Player of the Week honor of the season and the third of his career.
The Bakersfield, Calif. native led the Lancers with a career-high 37 points in a one-point loss to South Dakota last Wednesday. He drained five three-pointers and went 8-of-9 at the free-throw line. He also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out seven assists. The 37 points in the CBU Events Center broke the men's basketball single-game record of 36, which Milan set last year in a win over NM State.
Other nominees included: Taze Moore of CSU Bakersfield averaged 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 1.0 steals per game last week ... Grand Canyon's Alessandro Lever averaged 21.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game ... Jahshire Hardnett of Kansas City finished with 19 points and six rebounds in a win over Western Illinois ... NM State's Jabari Rice averaged 16.0 points and 6.3 rebounds as the Aggies went 2-1 on the week ... Terrell Brown of Seattle U averaged 22.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game to lead the Redhawks to a 2-1 record last week ... UT Rio Grande Valley's Jordan Jackson averaged 19.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists as the Vaqueros went 1-1 on the week ... Casdone Jardine of Utah Valley averaged 20.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in a pair of losses.
