Chicago State U junior guard Xavier Johnson has been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 5-11. This is his first-ever WAC Player of the Week honor.

The Dallas native averaged a WAC-best 28.0 points on 48.6 percent shooting, including 57.1 percent from three-point range, to go along with 5.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game as the Cougars went 1-1 on the week. He opened with week with 37 points, five assists, three rebounds and two steals in a 103-60 win over Judson. Johnson followed it up with 19 points, five rebounds, six assists and a steal in a 13-point loss to Loyola (Md.). His 37 points on opening night is tied for fourth  nationally in a game this season.

Other nominees included: Milan Acquaah of California Baptist averaged 19.0 points, 7.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a pair of wins last week ... CSU Bakersfield's Shawn Stith Jr. averaged 22.0 points on 68.8 percent shooting and 6.5 rebounds as the Runners went 1-1 on the week ... Isiah Brown of Grand Canyon averaged 16.5 points on 56.5 percent shooting, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists ... Kansas City's Brandon McKissic averaged 16.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game ... Jabari Rice of NM State finished with 21 points on 66.7 percent shooting and three assists in a win over Western New Mexico ... Seattle U's Terrell Brown averaged 23.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists as the Redhawks went 1-2 on the week ... Javon Levi of UT Rio Grande Valley finished with 18 points, four steals and three rebounds in a loss at South Dakota State ... Utah Valley's Isaiah White averaged 17.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists as the Wolverines went 1-1 on the week.

Kansas City's Brandon McKissic scored a career-high 27 points in win against Avila, including 23 in the first half ... Against Western New Mexico, NM State's Jabari Rice topped his career-high in points before the first half came to a close and ended the night with a team-high 21 points ... Utah Valley's Isaiah White scored a career-high 25 points with a career-high 13 rebounds for his first-ever double-double against Westminster ... CSU Bakersfield's Shawn Stith racked up 26 points and eight boards against South Dakota State. He got to the free throw line 25 times and sank 22 of his attempts ... Seattle U's Terrell Brown was just shy of a triple double with a 16-point, 8-rebound, 9-assist effort against Pacific Lutheran. He then scored a career-high 31 points against Eastern Washington on Nov. 9 for the first 30+-point game by a Redhawk since Dec. 4, 2017 ... in UTRGV's loss to South Dakota State, Javon Levi had four steals, as many steals as the entire SDSU team.

NM State leads the WAC in scoring defense (46.0), scoring margin (46.0), free throw percentage (82.1), field goal percentage (54.4), field goal percentage defense (28.6), rebounding defense (18.0) and rebounding margin (22.0), while CSU Bakersfield is tops in rebounding (49.5), steals (13.5), turnover margin (11.5), assist-turnover ratio (1.8) and offensive rebounds (18.5). California Baptist leads the league in scoring (102.5) and three-pointers per game (13.0) and is tied with Utah Valley in defensive rebounds (33.5), while Kansas City is tops in assists (19.5) and is tied with UT Rio Grande Valley in three-point field goal percentage defense (22.2). Chicago State leads the WAC in three-point field goal percentage (42.9) and Utah Valley is tops in blocks (9.0).

Individually, Chicago State's Xavier Johnson leads the WAC in scoring (28.0) and is tied with California Baptist's Ferron Flavors Jr. for three-pointers per game (4.0), while Utah Valley's Isaiah White is tops in rebounding (11.5) and defensive rebounds (9.0). CBU's Milan Acquaah leads the league in assists (7.0), while CSU Bakersfield's Taze Moore is tops in steals (4.5). UVU's Emmanuel Olojakpoke and Brandon Morley are tied for the lead in blocks (3.5), while Kansas City's Rob Whitfield is tops in assist-turnover ratio (8.0). CSUB's Shawn Stith Jr. leads the WAC in offensive rebounds (4.5) and Grand Canyon's Carlos Johnson is tops in minutes per game (38.5).
