DENVER - Boise State's Jenn Cahill and Hawai'i's Stephanie De Lima were named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference swimmer and diver of the week, respectively.
Cahill, a freshman from Wailuku, Hawaii (Baldwin HS), competed at the BYU and Utah quad meets last weekend where she set a new school record. On Friday, she took third in both the 1000- and 500-yard freestyles. Her altitude-adjusted time of 5:02.10 in the 500 free was a career-best and the top time in the WAC this season. On Saturday, she swam the same two events and won both of them. In the 1000, her altitude-adjusted time of 10:20.91 set a new school record and is the second fastest in the WAC this year.
De Lima, a junior from Montreal, Quebec (Antoine-de-St-Exupery), competed at the USC Trojan Diving Invitational last weekend and posted three top-5 finishes. On Friday, she placed fourth on the 3-meter board with a score of 287.20 and added a third-place finish on the platform with 224.90 points. The following day, De Lima took second-place honors on the 1-meter with a score of 295.75.
