Six WAC Teams Earn NSCAA College Team Academic Awards

DENVER – Six Western Athletic Conference squads were recognized with the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Team Academic Award. Fresno State, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico State, San Jose State and Idaho were honored for outstanding work done in the classroom by each school’s student-athletes.

A total of 789 soccer teams (218 men, 517 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2010-11 academic year. Over 100 more women's soccer teams were honored this season than the previous year.

Utah State, the WAC regular season and tournament champions, won the award for the ninth consecutive season, securing the second-highest GPA in the conference behind Idaho.
