SHREVEPORT, La. - WAC Player of the Year Adrienne Johnson scored a team-high 20 points and nabbed four steals, but the Lady Techsters couldn't overcome shooting woes in a 76-51 loss to Rutgers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday. LA Tech closes out the season 24-8.

After the two teams played to a 14-14 tie through the first nine minutes of the game, Rutgers used a decisive 25-7 run over the final 11 minutes of the opening stanza to grab a 39-21 halftime advantage.

Louisiana Tech shot 27 percent from the field, 13 percent from three-point range and 70 percent from the free throw line on the game. Rutgers connected on 51 percent from the field, 39 percent from downtown and 83 percent from the charity stripe. The Scarlet Knights won the rebounding battle, 44-34.

Brietta Thomas finished with 12 points as the only other Lady Techster in double-digit scoring.

Johnson closed out her career with 1,985 points, good for fourth place all-time in WAC history, 936 rebounds, tied for fifth in the WAC record books, and 156 blocks, good for eighth place all-time in the WAC.
