Verizon WAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

DENVER – Hawai`i freshman forward Kamilah Jackson has been named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 28-March 6. This is the first WAC Player of the Week honor of her career.

An Oakland, Calif. native, Jackson recorded her 12th double-double of the season with 21 points and 19 rebounds in an overtime win over Utah State. She shot 50 percent from the field and 83 percent from the free throw line, hitting the game winning free throws with 0.3 seconds left in overtime for the win. She passed UH All-American Judy Mosely for the freshman single-season rebounding record and moved into fifth place in UH single-season rebounding history with 323 total rebounds.

Other nominees included: Lauren Lenhardt of Boise State averaged 13.5 points on the week ... Fresno State’s Hayley Munro averaged 20.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals as the Bulldogs went 2-0 on the week … Adrienne Johnson of Louisiana Tech averaged 22.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 2.0 assists as the Techsters went 2-1 on the week … Nevada’s Tahnee Robinson averaged 21.0 points and 8.5 rebounds as the Wolf Pack went 1-1 on the week … Madison Spence of New Mexico State averaged 17.0 points, 4.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game … Utah State’s Ashlee Brown averaged 13.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists as the Aggies went 1-1 on the week.
