WAC Announces Xbox Live Baseball Players of the Week
DENVER ?“ Fresno state shortstop Christian Vitters and Hawai'i right-handed pitcher Justin Costi have been named the Western Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for March 27-April 2.

Vitters, a junior from Anaheim, Calif. (Cypress), hit .538 (7-13), with seven RBI and four runs scored in the Bulldogs?™ three-game series at New Mexico State. He was 3-for-5 on Friday and then put up another 3-for-5 performance on Saturday that included a three-run home run that capped a six-run ninth inning giving Fresno State a 10-7 win. He scored three runs and hit another home run in Sunday?™s 9-8 loss that snapped the Bulldogs?™ 17-game winning streak. It is Vitters?™ second career WAC Hitter of the Week award and third for a Bulldog player this year.

Costi, a senior from Elk Grove, Calif. (Sacramento CC), started two games last week and posted a win and no-decision for the Rainbows. He pitched a total of 13 innings and allowed two runs, six walks and seven hits while striking out 15. He opened the week last Monday against UC Santa Barbara and threw 6.1 innings with a career-high 10 strikeouts and allowed no runs and just one hit in the 3-0 shutout. On Saturday, he pitched 6.2 innings and allowed two runs while striking out five in Hawai'i?™s 13-inning 6-5 win versus San Jose State. It is Costi?™s second career WAC Pitcher of the Week award and third for a Rainbow this year.

The other player of the week nominations were junior third baseman/DH Justin Frash, Hawai'i; sophomore first baseman Terry Walsh, Nevada; senior DH Adam Harvey, New Mexico State; and senior catcher Buddy Morales, Sacramento State.

The other pitcher of the week nomination was senior Travis Sutton, Nevada.
