Verizon WAC Baseball Players of the Week Announced
Wong, a junior second baseman from Hilo, Hawaii (Kamehameha-Keeau HS), hit .538 (7-for-13) with nine runs scored, eight RBI, three doubles, one stolen base and six walks with only one strikeout as Hawai‘i split a four-game series at New Mexico State. The series split helped UH claim a share of the WAC’s regular season title for the first time since 1992.
Gonzalez, a senior from San Bruno, Calif. (Skyline JC), improved to a perfect 10-0 this season with a 7-1 victory over Nevada in the team’s regular season finale last week.
