Fales, a junior from Salinas, Calif. (Monterey Peninsula College) completed 27-of-39 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns in San Jose State's 42-13 win at Idaho. He also rushed three times for 24 yards. After a slow start, Fales threw for 301 yards in the final three quarters. He is the nation's leader in completion percentage at 72.7 percent.
Davis, a senior from Spokane, Wash. (De Anza College), had five tackles (4 solo) and intercepted a pass in Utah State's 38-7 win over Texas State. Davis' interception came in the end zone on a third-and-nine play from Utah State's 12-yard line to stop the Bobcats from tying the game in the first quarter. Utah State then drove 80 yards in five plays to take a 14-0 lead. It was his third interception in as many games. The Aggies held Texas State to a season-low 158 yards of total offense, the fewest allowed by Utah State since 2008.
Allen, a senior from Salem, Ore. (Oregon State), punted twice for a 62.0-yard average in Louisiana Tech's 51-27 win over UTSA. He hit a 65-yarder in the first quarter that pinned the Roadrunners back at the five-yard line and then added a 59-yarder in the third quarter. Allen leads the nation in punting with a 48.8-yard average.
Others nominated on offense: senior wide receiver Quinton Patton, Louisiana Tech; sophomore wide receiver Austin Franklin, New Mexico State; junior quarterback Eric Soza, UTSA; and senior wide receiver Matt Austin, Utah State.
Also nominated on defense: senior defensive back Dave Clark, Louisiana Tech; junior safety George Callender, New Mexico State; senior defensive end David Tuitupou, San Jose State; and sophomore strong safety Nic Johnston, UTSA.
Other special teams nominations included: sophomore placekicker Nick Diaz, Utah State.
