We all know that student-athletes compete on the field/court and in the classroom, but many of them spend numerous hours giving back to their local community as well.

Each month the Western Athletic Conference will highlight the community service efforts of some of the teams at the various membership institutions.

The month of April will focus on Utah State.

Team: Utah State

Teams Involved: Student-athletes from Football, Men's Tennis, Gymnastics, Volleyball and Soccer

Community Service Organization: Ellis Elementary (Logan/Cache Valley Elementary)

In February, representatives from a several teams attended a "100 Point Club" lunch at a local elementary school.

The school encouraged students to reach a 100 point reading goal to earn a prize, which was a luncheon with Aggie student-athletes.

The student-athletes celebrated the reading and academic success with the 100 Point Club members and encouraged other students to reach their reading goals as well.

After lunch and autographs, the student-athletes joined all the students for recess to promote physical activity.

Aggie student-athletes participate in similar events at Cache Valley elementary schools throughout the year.
