Verizon WAC Golfers of the Week Announced

DENVER - New Mexico State's Zachery Fullerton and Idaho's Teo Poplawski have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Week for February 20-26.

Fullerton, a senior from Albuquerque, N.M. (New Mexico JC), won his second straight tournament of the spring with a 6-under par 210 (68-74-68) at the Rice Intercollegiate, Feb. 20-21. His score was the third lowest in event history. Fullerton won the tournament after defeating Eric Chun of Northwestern on the third playoff hole of a sudden death tie-breaker. He had just one bogey during the three rounds. It is the second time in his career that Fullerton has won a WAC golfer of the week or month award.

Poplawski, a senior from Williston, Vt. (International Junior Golf Academy), tied for eighth place at the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitaional, Feb. 20-21. Poplawski shot a 7-over par 223 (74-75-74) to finish five strokes behind the winner. It is the third time in her career that Poplawski has won a WAC golfer of the week or month award.

Other men nominated: Sam Forgan, Louisiana Tech.

Other women nominated: Demi Mak, New Mexico State.
