Lojeski Named WAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

DENVER – Hawai‘i guard Matt Lojeski hs been named the Western Athletic Conference men’s basketball player of the week for December 18-24.
 
Lojeski, a senior from Racine, Wis. (Eastern Wyoming College), was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic after leading his team to three wins in the tournament.  He opened the week with 24 points, five rebounds and five assists against San Francisco on Wednesday.  On Friday, he had 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists versus Nebraska.  In the championship game versus Creighton, Lojeski scored a career-high 33 points on 12-of-15 shooting, including 5-of-6 from three-point range.  He also had six rebounds and four assists.  For the week, he averaged 24.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists.  He was 24-of-33 (.727) from the field, 8-of-11 (.727) from three-point range and 18-of-20 (.900) from the free throw line.  It is Lojeski’s second career WAC Player of the Week award and first for a Rainbow Warrior player this year.
 
The other nominations were junior forward Matt Nelson, Boise State; junior guard/forward Dominic McGuire, Fresno State; senior forward Nick Fazekas, Nevada; and junior forward Justin Hawkins, New Mexico State.
