DENVER – Hawai‘i left side hitter Jamie Houston has been named the Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 27. This is the third WAC Player of the Week honor for the sophomore this season.
The Huntsville, Ala. (Huntsville) averaged 5.70 kills and 2.30 digs per game, while hitting .290, in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament, earning Most Valuable Player honors. The first-team all-WAC honoree led the team in kills in the first two matches of the tournament with 16 against Fresno State and 25 against San Jose State. She then had 16 kills, seven digs and four aces in the championship match against No. 19 New Mexico State. Houston is now averaging 5.50 kills and 2.57 digs per game on the season. The Rainbow Wahine have won seven-straight WAC Tournament. Hawai‘i will now travel to Long Beach for the NCAA Tournament. The Rainbow Wahine will face Oregon in the first round.
