Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
The 15th Famous Idaho Potato Bowl will be contested in Boise, Idaho, on Dec. 17 (ESPN). The Bowl will select a WAC team and will match it against a team from the MAC. Last year, Fresno State made its third appearance in the bowl game, losing to Northern Illinois, 40-17.

San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl
The seventh Poinsettia Bowl will by played at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, Calif., on Dec. 21, 2011. The WAC will make its second appearance in the bowl game and will be paired against a team from the Mountain West.

Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl
The 10th Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl will be played in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Dec. 24 (ESPN). The game will select a WAC team and will match it against a Conference USA opponent. Last year, Hawai‘i made its sixth appearance in the bowl game and lost to Tulsa, 62-35.

Bowl Championship Series
The WAC champion will receive an automatic berth in one of the five BCS bowl games if ranked in the top 12 of the BCS Standings (and is the highest ranked team from a conference without an automatic bid) or if ranked in the top 16 of the BCS Standings and its ranking is higher than that of a champion of a conference that has an annual automatic berth in one of the BCS bowls. The BCS Standings are determined by a formula involving three components: the USA Today Coaches Poll, Harris Interactive College Football Poll, and six computer rankings (Jeff Sagarin, Anderson & Hester, Richard Billingsley, Colley Matrix, Kenneth Massey and Dr. Peter Wolfe). This year’s National Championship Game will be played in New Orleans on Jan. 9, 2012.
