Media Relations & Championships Intern

Salary: $1,500 per month

Dates: mid-August through mid-June (10-month position)

Qualifications:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree and previous work experience in media relations office and/or related field. Must have proven written and oral communications skills. Ability to write, edit and produce press releases and media guides is essential. Knowledge and experience with PCs, Indesign, Microsoft Word/Excel and the Internet. Flexible schedule with ability to work overtime and weekends.

Description:
The Western Athletic Conference is a 10-member conference which sponsors 19 intercollegiate Division I men's and women's sports.  The conference office is located in suburban Denver.  The media relations and championships intern will be involved in all aspects of publicizing the Western Athletic Conference.  Specific duties include writing and producing press releases, media guides, record books and championship programs for several assigned sports including women's soccer, track and field, tennis, and women's swimming and diving; working with regional and national media; compiling statistics and reporting results to media. Additionally, the intern will be responsible for doing advance preparation for and attending of selected championships to assist with media relations, marketing, promotions and the overall administration of the event. The intern will also be involved with other special events and projects as assigned.

Compliance & Business Intern

Salary: $1,500 per month

Dates: August-May (10-month position)

Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree and previous experience in intercollegiate athletics is required.  Candidates must have demonstrated written and oral communication skills, strong analytical ability, familiarity with Microsoft Office and other computer programs, and the ability to manage multiple projects.  A Master's or law degree or previous compliance or business experience is preferred.

Description:
The Western Athletic Conference is a 10-member conference which sponsors 19 intercollegiate Division I men's and women's sports.  The conference office is located in suburban Denver.  The compliance & business intern will assist with various aspects of the conference compliance office which may include rules interpretations and education, review of waivers, and conference activities related to NCAA governance and legislation. This position will also assist in various business related activities and projects. Based on interest and qualifications, the position will assist staff members in the administration of selected conference activities. The position may include occasional work on nights and weekends and some travel.
