SACRAMENTO, Calif. -(SAC Media Relations) In his final home game after five seasons with the Hornets, senior center fielder David Del Grande launched a lead-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Sacramento State a 6-5 win over North Dakota and clinch the first outright regular season WAC title for the team in program history.

"I was just trying to help my team win and off the bat I wasn't sure if it was going and once it went over I couldn't believe it happened; its something you dream of," Del Grande said. "When I saw it go out I was just jumping and I saw my teammates running out there and I can't even put into words what it was like. I've just been trying to get back on pace, and today I felt good in my last couple of at bats and it's a good way to enter the tournament."

GREELEY, Colo. –(UTPA Media Relations) The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team scored one run in the ninth inning and five more in the 10th and junior Blake English pitched a 10-inning complete game to lead the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team past the University of Northern Colorado Bears 7-2 on Saturday at Jackson Field.

The Broncs (26-28, 16-10 WAC) clinch their seventh-straight WAC series victory, guarantee themselves at least the No. 3 seed in the WAC Tournament, and are now a win or a Utah Valley loss away from clinching the No. 2 seed and a first round bye. Utah Valley is at Grand Canyon Saturday at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30. The Broncs and Bears complete their series Sunday at 1.

BELLEVUE, Wash.-(CSUB Media Relations) Bakersfield pitchers Austin Davis (R-So., Scottsdale, Ariz., Desert Mountain HS) and Hayden Carter (Jr., San Diego, Calif., Vista HS) combined on a four-hitter as the Roadrunners (24-31, 15-12 WAC) ended the regular season by defeating Seattle U (25-25, 13-11WAC) 10-0 Saturday afternoon.

Davis started, going the first four innings, allowing two hits, and facing two over the minimum before giving way to Carter. Carter, pitched five innings, gave up hits, and struck out three. Carter faced three above the minimum during his stint. Davis was awarded the victory as it was a controlled start for the 6-5 lefty.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. –(NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State baseball team swept the doubleheader over Chicago State winning game one 8-2 and game two 22-15 at Presley Askew Field, Saturday, May 17. NM State is now 21-19 overall and 11-13 in Western Athletic Conference play.

The Aggies won game one of the doubleheader 8-2 and moved to 11-13 in WAC play. NM State had already clinched a spot in the 2014 WAC Tournament after North Dakota lost to Sacramento State, Friday night.

PHOENIX – (UVU Media Relations) Utah Valley University used its biggest run-scoring inning since the 2012 season, plating nine runs in the top of the seventh to come from behind and beat Grand Canyon University, 9-7, on Saturday night at Brazell Stadium.

The Wolverines (25-27, 16-10) sent 15 hitters to the plate in the inning and scored the nine runs on seven hits and five walks. It’s the most UVU has scored since April 6, 2012, when scoring nine runs in the third inning of a 20-4 win over North Dakota.
