DENVER – Western Athletic Conference Interim Commissioner Jeff Hurd today announced the hiring of Nicole Green as the Assistant Commissioner for Compliance.  Green replaces Matt Burgemeister who accepted an Assistant Commissioner position at the ACC earlier last year.

Green has spent the last 10 years at the University of Memphis where she began in Academic Services before being named the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance & Student Services in 2007.  In that role, she managed and coordinated the athletic department’s compliance office and also served as the sport supervisor for Track and Field.  Prior to Memphis, Green also worked in compliance at both Southern Illinois and Kansas State.  She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Kansas State University where she was a student-athlete and competed in track and field.  Green was a four-time All-American, a three-time All-Academic Big Eight Conference selection and the NCAA 400-meter champion in 1995 during her collegiate career.

Green will oversee all compliance activities related to NCAA and WAC rules and regulations including the processing of all rules violations; managing WAC involvement in all aspects of NCAA governance and the National Letter of Intent program for conference members; coordinating on-going rules education and managing the conference’s legislative processes and agenda. In addition, she will serve as the liaison for the Faculty Athletics Representatives and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (WAC SAAC).
