After San Jose State got out to a 1-0 lead, the Aztecs tied the game in the third and then hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning to eliminate the Spartans from the NCAA Tempe Regional Saturday.

Markesha Collins hit a solo homer in the top of the first and Jessica Garcia hit one in the top of the seventh to account for the SJSU runs.

Amanda Pridmore took the complete-game loss, striking out one, to finish the season 29-11 with a school record 254 strikeouts.

The Spartans' record-breaking season ends with a 42-17 record.

Arizona State 5, San Jose State 2

San Jose State dropped its opening game of the NCAA Softball Regional to No. 5 overall seed Arizona State 5-2 Friday afternoon at Farrington Stadium.

The Spartans took the early lead, scoring two runs on a fielding error in the top of the first, but Sun Devil pitcher Dallas Escobedo threwing the first postseason no-hitter in Arizona State history.

WAC Pitcher of the Year Amanda Pridmore’s 13-game winning streak came to an end. She struck out three and walked one in her first loss since April 5.
