Dallas Baptist's McAlpine Named Academic All-District

DENVER--Dallas Baptist catcher Duncan McAlpine has been voted to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District Baseball team.

McAlpine was named to District seven's first team and now advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. That team will be announced on May 23.

McAlpine, a senior from North Richland Hills, Texas (Birdville HS), is currently hitting .321 at the plate with WAC-best 12 home runs. He has a team-best 43 RBI and holds a .635 slugging percentage. He has scored 33 runs and leads the Patriots with a .427 on base percentage. McAlpine's 12 home runs ranks him ninth nationally in the category.

McAlpine is studying kinesionolgy and holds a 3.80 grade-point average.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-District and All-America honors, a player must have completed at least one academic year, must be a starter or significant reserve, must have a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average and must have completed at least one full academic year at her institution. Voting is done by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
