2013 WAC Women's Tennis Award Winners Announced

DENVER – The 2013 Western Athletic Conference women’s tennis award winners, as selected by the league’s head coaches, were announced tonight at the WAC Tennis Tournament banquet. San Jose State’s, Klaudia Boczova was named WAC Player of the Year, Louisiana Tech’s Joanna Nalborska was named Freshman of the Year and Denver’s Jeremy Wurtzman earned Coach of the Year honors.

Boczova, currently ranked No. 53 nationally, posted a 13-3 overall record. She posted a perfect 5-0 mark vs. WAC opponents and is 3-3 on the season vs. ranked opponents. She was named WAC Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week four times this season.

Nalborska, went 11-1 overall during the season, including a perfect 7-0 mark vs. WAC opponents. She earned first team all-WAC honors in singles play, and was a big key to success for her program’s turn around.

In his fourth season at the helm, Wurtzman led his Pioneers to a 16-3 mark, including an 8-0 record against WAC opponents. With a national ranking of No. 52, his team is the first seed in the WAC Women’s Tennis Tournament.
