WAC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Announced
DENVER – New Mexico State’s LaSasha Aldredge and UT Arlington’s Morgan Domingue were named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of April 1-7.
Aldredge, a senior from Fresno, Calif. (Central East H.S.), set new top overall conference marks in the 200m and the 400m over the weekend when she finished first overall in the 400m with a time of 52.59 and second overall in the 200m with a time of 23.57. Aldredge’s time in the 400m is now a new overall school record and ranks sixth in the NCAA. Her time in the 200m places her second all-time for NM State. In the 4x100m, Aldredge helped the Aggies place first overall with a time of 45.34, which ranks first in the conference and third all-time in the NM State record books. In the 4x400m, Aldredge also helped the Aggies finish first overall in that event with a time of 3:45.51 to place eighth all-time for NM State.
Domingue, a junior from League City, Texas (Clear Lake H.S.), posted the best long jump mark in the WAC this season (6.08m, 19-11.5) at the Texas State Invitational. She was the runner up in the event and the top collegiate finisher. Her mark ranks 31st in the nation and 13th in the West Regional Qualifying.
Other track nominees included: Idaho senior Liga Velvere, Seattle U junior Hannah Mittelstaedt, Texas State senior Jennie Thomas, UT Arlington senior DeAndrea Smith and Utah State sophomore Chari Hawkins.
Other field nominees included: Idaho sophomore Johanna Hocketstaller, Louisiana Tech sophomore Pamela Lee, New Mexico State senior Kelsey Brennan, Seattle U junior Katie Tougas, Texas State junior Danielle Candelaria and Utah State Keeley Eldredge.
