WAC Tennis Players of the Week Announced
DENVER – Idaho’s Jose Bendeck and San Jose State’s Klaudia Boczova have been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Tennis Players of the Week, respectively, for the week of April 1-7.
Bendeck, a junior from Columbia, South America, went 3-0 in both singles and doubles on the week as Idaho reached the 20-win mark for the season and improved to 4-0 in WAC play. The Vandals beat UTA 4-0 when Bendeck won at No. 2 doubles and at No. 3 singles on Monday. Idaho fell 4-3 at Oklahoma State but Bendeck teamed up with Cristobal Ramos Salazar to beat the No. 70 doubles pairing in the nation, 8-3, and also won at No. 3 singles. Bendeck wrapped up the week with a straight-set singles win and an 8-0 doubles win over Sacramento State in Idaho’s 4-3 victory.
A sophomore from Bratislava, Slovakia, Boczova posted a 3-0 combined singles and doubles record in the weekend conference dual matches. Boczoca defeated McKenzie Davis of Utah State in singles, 7-6, 6-3. She teamed up with Jessica Willett in doubles to defeat Emma Isberg and Mandy van den Eerenbeemt, 8-5 against the University of Denver. In singles, Boczova won in straight sets against Sophia Bergner in the No. 1 court, 6-2, 6-4.
