WAC TEAM-BY-TEAM NOTES

Idaho Vandals 
Idaho will split forces down the middle in its team opener this weekend with half the squad competing at the Sam Adams Classic (Spokane, Wash.) and the other at the Sun Angel Classic (Tempe, Ariz.) ... Idaho won 12 events last year at the Sam Adams Classic meet ... this is the first time the Idaho track and field has competed at the Sun Angel Classic, and the first time in nine years the team has traveled to Arizona ... Barry Britt, Kyle Rothwell, and  Matt Sullivan were the three Vandal competitors at the Stanford Invitational last weekend ... Britt led the way with his career-best time of 14:03.48 in the 5000m, .2 away from beating the Idaho school record set in 1982.

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs
Dennis Richardson raced to a pair of seventh-place finishes as action wrapped up at the 86th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays ... Richardson led off the day by running 10.53 in the 100m dash finals to place seventh overall ... on the women’s side, Kim Francis ran 13.38 in the 100m hurdles to finish ninth ... that time now ranks tied for ninth in school history matching the 13.38 time ran by Antoinette Cobb in Baton Rouge, La. on April 17, 2010 ... Louisiana Tech returns to action next week when Tech competes in the Stephen F. Austin Invitational on April 6 in Nacogdoches, Texas.

New Mexico State Aggies
The Aggies competed at the UTEP Springtime meet last weekend ... Brianna Cromartie finished first in the 400m dash with a time of 55.54 ... Lasasha Aldredge placed third (56.70) ... in the 3000m run Sarabel Bojorquez and Carly Porter finished first and second ... in the high jump Zoe Meade cleared  a height of 1.65m ... she placed second ... the Aggies will be resume competition April 5, when they travel to the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.

Seattle University Redhawks
Redshirt senior Erik Barkhaus competed in the 10,000 meter run at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival ...  Barkhaus posted a time of 31:45.76, finishing in 29th place both in his section and overall in the event ... the Seattle University track and field team will send a full squad to Salem, Ore., for the Willamette Invitational next Saturday, April 6.

University of Texas at Arlington Mavericks 
The UT Arlington track teams completed their stay at the 86th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Saturday, as three women participated in the final day’s events ... Shannon Reynolds ran a time of 11.47 to place 11th in the 100m invitational ... she was the lone Maverick in a running event ... Whitley Ellison placed seventh in the discus with a throw of 154-04 (47.05m), just one inch shy of her personal best ... Samantha Little took ninth in the competition with a heave of 147-02 (44.87m) ... Romain Martin earned runner-up honors in the decathlon at the prestigious event for the second straight year ... he totaled 7,904 points, the second-highest point total in the nation this season ... the Mavericks will return to action Friday at the Texas State Invitational.

UTSA Roadrunners
Roscoe Robinson led UTSA last week with a school-record measurement of 25-9 1/4 (7.85m) in the long jump … just the fourth athlete in program history to break the 25-foot barrier, he now leads the WAC standings and is fourth on the national leaderboard … two other Roadrunners currently reside atop the league leaderboard (Christopher Hall, 400m/Kerry Thompson, high jump) … UTSA’s women recorded six victories and posted a combined total of 21 podium finishes last weekend at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and Trinity Tigers Relays … Alyssa Diaz currently leads the WAC in the 10,000 meters … the Roadrunners have captured nine gold medals this spring … UTSA will be back in action this weekend at the two-day Texas State Invitational.

Texas State Bobcats
Texas State will host the team’s third outdoor track meet of the season Friday and Saturday, but this time the Bobcats will do it as a regionally ranked squad ... both the men and women are ranked in the South Central Region ... the men are ranked fifth in the region behind Texas, Texas A&M, Arkansas and LSU while the women sit seventh behind Texas A&M, LSU, Arkansas, Texas Baylor and SMU ... the meet will start Friday at 11 a.m. with the women’s hammer throw and the men will follow ... at 3 p.m. it will be the women’s discus with the men to follow ... Saturday, the meet kicks off at 9 a.m. with the women’s 5,000mr run.

Utah State Aggies
Utah State’s men and women’s track & field teams tallied six top-six finishes on Saturday ... Briton Page crossed the finish line in third place in the men’s 800m with the fourth-fastest time in USU history, while sophomore Nic Bowens also tabbed a third-place finish with a time of 21.16 in the men’s 200m ... on the women’s side, junior Keeley Eldredge led the way with a throw of 54.32m (178-02) in the hammer throw to place third overall ... Melanie Heslop also had a great day in the throwing events as she placed fifth in the discus with a mark of 44.20m (145-00) and sixth in the hammer with a throw of 51.34m (168-05) ... Utah State travles to Boise, Idaho for the All-Idaho Cup on Friday and Saturday, April 5-6.

WAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2013 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships travels to Arlington, Texas. This year’s championships will be hosted UT Arlington and will take place at Maverick Stadium beginning Mar. 8 and running through Mar. 11. The Idaho men and Utah State women claimed the championships last year.
