Bellevue, Wash. -(SU Media Relations) The University of Portland took the early advantage, and Seattle University was unable to put together enough offense for a comeback as the Pilots defeated the Redhawks, 13-6, Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference collegiate baseball game at Bannerwood Park.

Portland (12-17) started its offensive attack in the second inning, loading the bases on consecutive singles by Caleb Whalen, Kevin Farley, and Nick Armenta. Ben Grubb drew a bases loaded walk to force in Whalen, and Farley would score when a grounder hit by Michael Lucarelli was mishandled.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — (SAC Media Relations) Uncharacteristically sloppy defense led to four unearned runs as Sacramento State fell to San Francisco, 8-4, in a non-league game on Wednesday at John Smith Field.

The Hornets (15-14) committed two errors in the sixth inning where the Dons (14-14) scored four runs and a third error in the seventh resulted in another run. Sacramento State entered the game with a fielding percentage of .982 which ranked sixth among the 297 NCAA Div. I teams.

Moraga, Calif. -- (SJSU Media Relations) San Jose State let a seven-run lead slip away for a 9-8 loss in non-conference play against Saint Mary's College at Louis Guisto Field on Wednesday.

After the Spartans mounted an 8-1 lead with four consecutive scoring innings, the Gaels went for eight unanswered runs including a five-spot in the sixth inning.

Baylor 6, Dallas Baptist 1
Box Score

WACO, Texas--(DBU Media Relations) On a cold and windy Wednesday night at Baylor Ballpark, the site of the 2012 Waco Regional, the Dallas Baptist Patriots (16-13) were not able to get any momentum going on the offensive side of the game in falling to Baylor (14-15) in Waco, 6-1. The Patriots garnered only four hits on the evening, none after the fourth inning, and seven different DBU pitchers combined to walk six Baylor hitters and, combined with two errors in the field, allow six runs. The loss drops DBU to 4-4 in midweek contests this season as they get ready for a Western Athletic Conference series in New Mexico this weekend.
The Patriots got on the board first in the third inning with back-to-back doubles from Ronnie Mitchell and Austin Listi off Baylor starter, Sterling Wynn. Unfortunately for DBU, that would be their only scoring on the night as they stranded six baserunners on the evening, including leaving the bases loaded in the fourth when the game was still tied at one apiece.
