BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—(CSUB Media Relations) IIn the first ever WAC baseball game at Hardt Field, Jeff McKenzie (Sr., El Dorado Hills, Calif., San Joaquin Delta College) tossed his third complete game in his last four starts as CSU Bakersfield (18-8, 3-1 WAC) defeated New Mexico State (14-13, 1-3 WAC) 4-0 Wednesday night.

McKenzie allowed four hits, struck out nine, and picked off two Aggies at first base. McKenzie walked three as he faced 31 Aggies, four over the minimum. McKenzie has allowed one earned run in his last 27.2 innings of work. The 6-0 lefty lowered his ERA to 1.17 on the season.

San Antonio, Texas –(SJSU Media Relations) A career-day at the plate for Matt Carroll boosted San Jose State baseball to a 12-4 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) victory over UTSA at Roadrunner Field on Thursday.

The big 6-foot-6 first baseman had a hand in seven scoring plays for SJSU by belting out three hits, collecting a career-high six RBI and scoring a run. Together, his 2-RBI single in the first, and bases clearing 3-RBI double in the second, helped the Spartans jump out to a commanding 7-2 lead.

DALLAS - (DBU Media Relations) With an early offensive outburst, the Dallas Baptist Patriots (15-11, 3-1) rode the right arm of Jake Johansen (4-2) to a 10-0 run rule of Sacramento State (13-12, 1-3) to open an Easter Weekend series at Horner Ballpark. Johansen threw all seven innings and allowed only five hits while striking out three and walking none. Four different Patriots recorded multi-hit games as DBU racked up eleven hits in the contest and broke open the game with eight runs between the second and third innings.

The Patriots got on the board in a big way in the second inning with six hits in the frame highlighted by a Jaime Garrido double down the left field line to score RJ Talamantes and Nash Knight who had both singled. Justin Wall had an RBI double to start the scoring after Duncan McAlpine singled to open the inning.

SAN MARCOS, Texas –(TXST Media Relations) Texas State earned their second series-opening victory of the season, 4-2, behind strong pitching from sophomore Taylor Black and consistent hitting throughout the lineup. Designated hitter Colby Targun led the squad with a 2-for-3 night and his first home run of the season along with a walk.
“It was big to come out here and get a big win to start the series,” said Targun.
Targun wasn't the only hitter on the squad on the night as six other Bobcats tallied a hit. Shortstop Garrett Mattlage and first baseman Ben McElroy both hit balls that went to the wall. Mattlage ran his out for an RBI triple while McElroy's brought in two RBI.
