WAC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Announced
DENVER - Texas State’s Chante’sean White and UT Arlington’s Jennifer Brown were named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of March 18-24.
White, a senior from Midland, Texas (South Plains College), finished third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.17. Her time marked the fastest time in the WAC this season and ranks fifth best in the nation. White also ran the first leg of the 4x400m relay, helping the Bobcats to a first-place time of 3:44.61 at the Texas State Elite. Finally, White participated in the 4x100m relay, running the third leg for a fifth-ranked time in the WAC of 46.31.
Brown, a senior from San Antonio, Texas (Ronald Reagan H.S.), won the long jump (19-06.75, 5.96m) and triple jump 12.53m (41-01.50) with season-best efforts at the Bobby Lane Invitaional. Her marks rank among the nations best. She places 11th national in the triple jump and 30th in the long jump. If you narrow it down, her triple jump falls seventh on the West Outdoor Qualifying list, while her long jump comes in second. Brown’s triple jump distance was a new personal best and ranks third in UTA school history.
Other track nominees included: Idaho freshman Halie Raudenbush, Louisiana Tech junior Kim Francis, UT Arlington sophomore Ashly Wright and UTSA junior Alyssa Diaz.
