UTSA’S TIJERINA, SJSU’S PRIDMORE NAMED WAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
UTSA’s Vivian Tijerina and San Jose State’s Amanda Pridmore have been named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for March 18-24. This is the first-ever honor for Tijerina and the third of the season and fourth of her career for Pridmore.

Tijerina, a sophomore third baseman from Atascosa, Texas, led the Roadrunners to their first-ever WAC wins, a three-game sweep of Texas State on the road last weekend. She hit .625 (5-of-8) and posted a .750 slugging percentage and a .700 on-base percentage. Tijerina had a hit in all three games to extend her hitting streak to seven games and has now reached base in the last eight contests. She also has six multi-hit games after recording two hits in each of the last two games against the Bobcats and is tied for the team lead with six multi-RBI games as she drove in two runs in UTSA’s game two win.

Pridmore, a senior from Modesto, Calif., earned all three wins for San Jose State last week, as the Spartans opened WAC play 3-0. In 22.2 innings of work, she posted a 0.71 ERA with 13 strikeouts and held opponents to a .162 batting average. She opened the week with a complete-game win over Utah State, striking out six. The following day, she posted her 11th career shutout, striking out five in 5.2 innings of work. She closed out the week with a complete-game victory in the finale to move into second place all-time in victories (59) at SJSU. The Spartans have now won eight straight games, with Pridmore earning the win in seven of those games.

SJSU WIN STREAK UP TO NINE GAMES
With an 8-2 win over Sacramento State on March 26, San Jose State moved its win streak to nine games, dating back to a March 14 loss at San Diego State. The Spartans swept the series against Utah State last weekend for their first 3-0 start to league play in school history.

UTSA EARNS SWEEP AT TEXAS STATE FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 1996
UTSA opened WAC play last weekend with a three-game sweep at Texas State for the first time since 1996. It was also the first series sweep of the Bobcats by the Roadrunners since taking three in 2004 at Roadrunner Field.

PRIDMORE MOVING UP SAN JOSE STATE CAREER CHARTS
