LAS CRUCES, N.M. – (NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State baseball team used seven  pitchers to defeat the Texas Tech 7-6 as junior Gory Goldstrom hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to bring in senior Kyle Phillips, Monday, March 25.

After junior right-hander Christopher Bradley sat down three of the four batters he faced in the top of the ninth, and Phillips led-off the bottom of the inning by being hit by a pitch.  Phillips advanced over to second base when junior Taylor Noyer tallied a sac-bunt before scoring the winning run.

RUSTON - (SU Media Relations) The Seattle University baseball team built an early lead, and the bullpen took over by shutting down Louisiana Tech as the Redhawks defeated the Bulldogs, 7-4, to win the opening series of Western Athletic Conference play Monday night at J.C. Love Field.

Similar to the first two games of the series, Seattle U created a scoring chance in the top of the first inning, starting when Nate Roberts (Silverdale, Wash.) reached on a Louisiana Tech throwing error. Ryan Somers (Sammamish, Wash.) drew a one-out walk, and after a strikeout, Grant Newton (Bend, Ore.) drew a walk to load the bases with two outs.

UC Davis 9, San Jose State 2

San Jose, Calif. – (SJSU Media Relations) San Jose State gave up runs in each of the first three innings on the way to a 9-2 loss to UC Davis on Monday night at Municipal Stadium.

The Spartans (7-18) faced a 7-0 deficit after the Aggies (9-12) put down five runs in the top of the third inning on just two hits.
