DENVER – UTSA’s Vivian Tijerina and San Jose State’s Amanda Pridmore have been named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for March 18-24. This is the first-ever honor for Tijerina and the third of the season and fourth of her career for Pridmore.

Tijerina, a sophomore third baseman from Atascosa, Texas, led the Roadrunners to their first-ever WAC wins, a three-game sweep of Texas State on the road last weekend. She hit .625 (5-of-8) and posted a .750 slugging percentage and a .700 on-base percentage. Tijerina had a hit in all three games to extend her hitting streak to seven games and has now reached base in the last eight contests. She also has six multi-hit games after recording two hits in each of the last two games against the Bobcats and is tied for the team lead with six multi-RBI games as she drove in two runs in UTSA’s game two win.

In 22.2 innings of work, she posted a 0.71 ERA with 13 strikeouts and held opponents to a .162 batting average. She opened the week with a complete-game win over Utah State, striking out six.
