WAC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Announced
DENVER – Louisiana Tech’s Kim Francis and Texas State’s Kelsey Titzman were named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of March 11-17.
Francis, a junior from Lafayette, La. (Northside H.S.), ran a 13.53 to win the 100m hurdles at the Jim Mize Invitational last weekend. That mark currently ranks Francis first in the WAC and sixth in the nation and marks her best season-opening time in the 100m hurdles in her career.
Titzman, a senior from Kosciusko, Texas (Poth H.S.), placed third in the shot put with a WAC leading throw of 15.54m (51-00) at the TCU Invitational. Her shot put distance currently ranks tied for eighth in the nation. She recorded a fifth-place distance of 45.83m (150-04), setting a personal record in the discus and stands as the second-best in the WAC this season. Titzman also finished fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 51.26m (168-02), good for fourth in the WAC.
Other track nominees included: Seattle U junior Hannah Mittelstaedt and Texas State junior Chelsea Stephen.
Other field nominees included: Louisiana Tech senior Marcella LeBlanc.
