WAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week

DENVER - Idaho's Hannah Kiser and Texas State's Talore Kelly were named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of Feb. 4-10.

Kiser, a junior from Wentachee, Wash. (Wenatchee H.S.), finished fourth overall and second among collegians in the invitational section of the 3000m at the Husky Classic on Saturday with a WAC all-time record time of 9:04.74, which is also an Idaho school record. Her time ranks fifth in the NCAA this season and leads the WAC by more than 42 seconds so far this season. She broke the previous WAC record by nearly three seconds. Her time is the ninth fastest by an American on an oversized track so far this season. Kiser now has the top WAC times in the mile and the 3000m this season.  

Kelly, a freshman from Amarillo, Texas (Tascosa H.S.), won the women's weight throw with the best mark in the WAC this season and the second-best mark in school history with a throw of 18.21m (59-09.00). She also had an 11th-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 12.70m (41-08.00).

Other track nominees included: Louisiana Tech senior Kimberly Smith, New Mexico State junior Brianna Cromartie, Seattle U sophomore Miriam Mboya, Texas State sophomore Brianna Sharp and Utah State freshman Tylee Newman.

Other field nominees included: Idaho senior Kristine Leonard, Seattle U junior Bethany Richards and Utah State sophomore Jodi Williams.
