DENVER - Denver's Max Krammer and San Jose State's Klaudia Boczova have been named the Western Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively, for the week of Jan. 28 - Feb. 3.
Krammer, a redshirt senior from Perchtoldsdorf, Austria, helped the No. 54 Pioneers defeat No. 68 Purdue, 7-0, with his win at No. 3 singles. Krammer defeated Diego Acosta, the No. 118 ranked player in the nation, in straight sets (6-2, 7-5). Krammer teamed with Enej Bonin in the duo's 8-4 doubles win over Acosta and Aaron Dujovne at No. 1 doubles.
A sophomore from Bratislava, Slovakia, Boczova played in the No. 1 spot in singles play for the Spartans in all three matches. Bozova won all three of her singles bouts this past weekend. She defeated Andrea Ka from the University of San Francisco in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3 in SJSU's 5-2 win over the Lady Dons. On Saturday Bozcova defeated UC Santa Barbara's April Scattliffe (6-2, 4-6, 6-1) in the Spartans 4-3 win. The Spartans defeated Cal Poly, 5-2, on Sunday. Bozcova led the way with her 6-4, 6-2 win over Louise Oxnevad.
