Denver will open the weekend on Friday against Kansas before closing the trip on Sunday with a match at Wichita State ... last weekend, the Pioneers evened their record with a 7-0 win at home over Louisiana Lafayette ... Denver did not drop more than two games during any of the seven matches vs. ULL ... Sophia Bergner led the way last weekend for the Pioneers by teaming with Steffi Rath to post an 8-2 win in No. 1 doubles before following with a 6-0, 6-0 showing in No. 1 singles action.

The Idaho women's tennis team dropped three matches over the weekend, losing 7-0 to No. 66 Oregon, 6-1 to Portland and 5-2 to Portland State ... Idaho's Constance Alexander and Belena Barcenilla got an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles against Oregon, but the Ducks won 8-6 at No. 1 doubles and 8-3 at No. 3 to win the point ... Victoria Lozano gave Idaho its best shot at a singles victory, but fell 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1, as Oregon won all six singles matches in straight sets ... the Vandals won the doubles point against Portland, as Lozano and Almudena Sanz won 8-4 at No. 1 and Alexander and Barcenilla won 8-5 at No. 2 ... against Portland State, the Vandals won in straight sets at the top two singles spots, as Lozano won 6-2, 6-4 and Sanz won 6-2, 6-3 ... the Vandals return to action with a trip to Boise to face Idaho State on Feb. 9 and Boise State on Feb. 10.

Louisiana Tech started the Freddy Gomez era on the right foot as the Techsters edged out Central Arkansas, 4-3, in Tech's season opener ... Tech claimed the double point as Vivian ten Dolle and Manoela Chicchio topped the tandem of Allison Murphy and Krizia Buck, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles ... ten Dolle's 6-1, 6-1 win over Horsikyan at No. 1 gave Tech the 2-1 advantage ... Taly Merker's 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles over Krizia Buck pushed Tech to a 3-2 match advantage ... Louisiana Tech returns to action next Saturday, Feb. 2 with a noon match at home against Southeastern Louisiana.

On Jan. 25, senior Steffanie Mortera played her first collegiate dual match since Feb. 20, 2011. She missed the entire 2011-12 season due to injury ... Lindsey Newman claimed the third 6-0, 6-0 victory of her Seattle U career ... Corinne Wurden is undefeated against opponents from Portland State ... she has faced a Vikings opponent four times in her three years at Seattle U and has won all four matches, all in two sets.

The Texas State women's tennis team closed out its 2012 fall schedule with a second-place finish and a pair of consolation victories on the University of Houston Open Tournament's at the John Hoff Courts ... in the finals of the Fred Couples flight, Monica Pieratt suffered a 6-1, 6-2 loss against Houston's Kazimieruk to finish in second place ... Texas State's other victory came in the Randy Quaid flight as Mariana Perez defeated Jessie Boda of Liberty by a score of 6-2, 6-0 for a seventh-place finish ... Texas State kicks off the 2013 spring season om Feb. 2 when Texas Pan American travels to San Marcos.

The UT Arlington women's tennis team competed in the Texas Regional in Waco ... transfer student from Tyler Junior College, Brooke Dennis, proved that she has come to UTA to compete for the Mavericks ... she made it to the Semi Finals after defeating Anastasia Burobina 6-1, 6-1 and Solomlya Zink 6-3, 7-5 in the consolation round ... the Mavericks also competed well in doubles as Dennis was joined by teammate Elizabeth Thoms to defeat Burges and Martin 8-3 ... the women will begin team competition Feb. 1 against Oklahoma Central and Tarleton State.

UTSA wrapped up its fall slate by collecting 13 victories, including three of its four doubles contests, last Saturday at the Texas State Play Date ... sophomore Irene Gandara Gonzalez, redshirt freshman Lynsey Maciolek and freshman Jacobea Junger all netted three wins during the event ... each of the three won their lone doubles tilt and two singles matches ... the Roadrunners now will shift their preparations for dual match competition, which begins in February 2013.

Utah State women's tennis lost its first match of the 2013 season Saturday as it fell at BYU, 6-1. With the loss, USU is now 1-1 on the season ... McKenzie Davis was the only Aggie to win a match against the Cougars as she posted a three-set win at No. 1 singles against Morgan Anderson (7-5, 3-6, 6-1) ... in doubles play, Davis and Jaci West fell to Sheehan-Dizon and Nicolette Tran at the first position, 8-7 (4) ... Utah State's women will return to action on Friday, February 8 when it hosts Portland State.
