-(LT Media Relations) Louisiana Tech had never beaten Utah State at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in seven tries, but that changed Saturday night behind Brandon Gibson's team-high 20 points and Raheem Appleby's game-winning three-pointer as the Bulldogs bested the Aggies 51-48 before 8,530 screaming Aggie fans.

LA Tech (18-3, 9-0 WAC) had only scored 13 points in the entire second half before Utah State (14-5, 5-4 WAC) went on an 8-0 run to tie the game up 48-48 with 1:42 left in the game.

On the Bulldogs next possession, Kenneth Smith found a wide-open Appleby on the wing and he drained the three-pointer to retake the lead with 1:26 remaining.

After a scoreless trip on offense by both teams, USU came up with the defensive rebound with 14 seconds left and the Aggies opted to not call a timeout.

–(UI Media Relations) University of Idaho senior center Kyle Barone had the best shooting performance in Idaho history, but his assist on a crucial 3-pointer with 1:00 remaining was the biggest play in Idaho’s 74-70 home win over UTSA on Saturday at the Cowan Spectrum.

Barone went 10-of-10 from the floor to break Idaho’s single-game field goal percentage record and finished with game highs of 25 points and 16 rebounds, along with three blocks and two assists. Senior guard Mike McChristian was 0-for-3 from long range before a driving Barone found him in the corner for a wide-open triple late in the shot clock. McChristian drained it to give the Vandals a 69-65 lead with a minute to play.

“I had missed my previous three 3-point attempts to that point, but I just wanted to make sure I stepped up and still was confident while shooting it,” McChristian said. “That late in the shot clock, you don’t really have much of an option.”
