The University of Denver's women's fell 6-1 to the No. 21 Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas on Saturday ... Pioneer senior Sophia Bergner  defeated Texas Tech's Samantha Adams (No. 49) 7-5, 6-2 ... Mandy van den Eerenbeemt took Elizabeth Ullathorne to three sets but fell 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 ... Denver will look to rebound when they take on Louisiana Lafayette Friday, Jan. 25.

IDAHO (0-1, 0-0)
The Idaho women's tennis team opened its spring season with a 7-0 loss at No. 32 Washington State on Saturday ... the Vandals had the early edge in doubles play, as Constance Alexander and Rita Bermudez won 8-5 over Liudmila Vasilieva and Lize Leenknecht at No. 2 doubles ... WSU won 8-5 over Victoria Lozano and Almudena Sanz at No. 1 and 8-4 over Beatriz Flores and Alejandra Lozano at No. 3 to win the doubles points ... Victoria Lozano put up the toughest fight for Idaho in singles play, falling 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1 to No. 48 Vasilieva ... Idaho will face another Pac-12 opponent when it takes the court next, as Oregon awaits on Jan. 26.

Louisiana Tech hired former Virginia Tech assistant women's tennis coach Freddy Gomez to be the new head coach for the Lady Techster tennis program ... Gomez served as an assistant coach for two and a half years with the Virginia Tech Hokies ... LA Tech will start team play when Central Arkansas travels to Ruston for their match on Jan. 26.  

Last time out, senior Ginet Pinero led the Aggies with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Alexis Garrett of UNLV at teh ITA Mountain Regional ... Pinero advanced to the third round but fell to Haley Driver of Montana, 6-3, 6-2 ... also in second-round action, sophomore Denise Van Der Ben fell to Simona Synkova of Wyoming, 6-1, 6-3 ... freshman Lisa Roslanova fell to Johanna Vang of Northern Arizona, 6-0, 7-5 ... The Aggies will be back on the court in the spring at UNLV on Feb. 8.

SAN JOSE STATE (0-1, 0-0)
The San Jose State University women's tennis team concludes its first road trip of the season at Cal State Fullerton on January 22 ... sophomores Julianna Bacelar and Jessica Willett each contributed a singles win in the season opener and the two teamed up in doubles to win a match, but San Jose State fell to UC Irvine, 4-3.

SEATTLE U (0-1, 0-0) 
The University of Washington women's tennis team, ranked #47 in the ITA rankings, controlled Tuesday's match from start to finish, sweeping Seattle University, 7-0 ... in singles play, the most competitive match came in the number two position, as Lindsey Newman stuck with Andjela Nemcevic in the second set before finally dropping the straight-set contest (6-0, 6-3) ... Seattle University (0-1) will next travel south to Club Green Meadows in Vancouver, Wash., to face Portland State Friday, Jan. 25. 

TEXAS STATE (0-0, 0-0)
he Texas State women's tennis team closed out its 2012 fall schedule with a second-place finish and a pair of consolation victories on the University of Houston Open Tournament's at the John Hoff Courts ... in the finals of the Fred Couples flight, Monica Pieratt suffered a 6-1, 6-2 loss against Houston's Kazimieruk to finish in second place ...  Texas State's other victory came in the Randy Quaid flight as Mariana Perez defeated Jessie Boda of Liberty by a score of 6-2, 6-0 for a seventh-place finish ... Texas State kicks off the 2013 spring season on Jan. 27 at SMU. 

UT ARLINGTON (0-0, 0-0)
The UT Arlington women's tennis team competed in the Texas Regional in Waco ... transfer student from Tyler Junior College, Brooke Dennis, proved that she has come to UTA to compete for the Mavericks ... she made it to the Semi Finals after defeating Anastasia Burobina 6-1, 6-1 and Solomlya Zink 6-3, 7-5 in the consolation round ... the Mavericks also competed well in doubles as Dennis was joined by teammate Elizabeth Thoms to defeat Burges and Martin 8-3 ... the women will begin team competition Feb. 1 against Oklahoma Central and Tarleton State.

UTSA (0-0, 0-0)
UTSA wrapped up its fall slate by collecting 13 victories, including three of its four doubles contests, last Saturday at the Texas State Play Date ... sophomore Irene Gandara Gonzalez, redshirt freshman Lynsey Maciolek and freshman Jacobea Junger all netted three wins during the event ... each of the three won their lone doubles tilt and two singles matches ... freshman Miranda Poile won both of her singles tilts, while seniors Natalie Hand and Kavya Menon logged one win on the singles courts ... the Roadrunners now will shift their preparations for dual match competition, which begins in February 2013.
UTAH STATE (1-0, 0-0)
Utah State women's tennis opened its 2013 spring season with a 7-0 home win against Idaho State ... at No. 1 singles, sophomore McKenzie Davis defeated Idaho State's Marian Tangarife in straight sets (6-1, 6-0) ...  Jaci West also won in straight sets at No. 2 singles against ISU's Kasey Bacon (7-6, 7-5) ... in doubles play, Davis and West posted an 8-2 win at the first position against Idaho State's Boeckmann and Tegtmeier ... Utah State returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 26 when it travels to Provo to face BYU.
