Despite a 28-point career-high effort from Morgan Van Riper-Rose, Denver fell to in-state rival Colorado 83-63 Tuesday evening at Magness Arena. The loss drops the Pioneers to 4-5 on the season, while Colorado remains undefeated at 8-0.
Denver shot 36 percent from the field, 47 percent from three-point range and 82 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Pioneers were out-rebounded 50-28 and committed 19 turnovers in the loss.
Van Riper-Rose set a career high for the second straight game, scoring 28 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field. She also recorded a career-high six three-pointers, shooting 6-of-9 from long range on her way to her way to her fourth 20-plus-point game of the season. Theresa Wirth added 10 for the Pioneers.
