The Aggies defeated Seattle U in four sets (25-20, 25-21, 23-25, 25-16) in WAC actioon Monday. With the win, New Mexico State improves to 17-7 overall and 10-3 in the WAC. The Redhawks fall to 7-17 on the season and 2-13 in WAC play.
NM State out-hit Seattle U .333 to .262. Both teams hhad 56 kills and 53 assists. The Aggies posted more service aces (9-5) and blocks (9-1), while the Redhawks had more digs (53-47).
Meredith Hays paced NM State with 16 kills, while Desiree Scott and Lauren Loerch had 11 kills each.
Kaytlyn Dill led Seattle U with a match-high 23 kills.
Denver 3, Idaho 2
In a back and forth match that lasted two and a half hours, Denver defeated Idaho in five sets (28-26, 22-25, 22-25, 30-28, 17-15) in WAC action Monday night at Hamilton Gymnasium. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 14-10 overall and 7-6 in the WAC. Idaho drops to 11-13 on the season and 9-5 in WAC play.
Denver out-hit the Vandals .215 to .204. The Pioneers also had more service aces (6-5), but Idaho won the battle of kills (74-73), assists (72-70) and digs (92-88). Both teams had 14 blocks on the night.
Colleen King led Den ver with 21 kills, while Faimie Kingsley tallied 13 and Michele Swope added 11. Brea Muhle and Alex Turgeon had 10 kills each. Swope added 20 digs and Kingsley tallied 10 blocks for double-doubles.
Idaho was led by Allison (Walker) Baker with 22 kills and 11 digs. Janelle Chow posted a match-high 32 digs, while Jenny Feicht had a double-double of 40 assists and 16 digs.
