UTSA swept WAC-leading Utah State 25-20, 25-20, 25-21 on Monday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. With the win, the Roadrunners improve to 13-7 overall and 6-4 in WAC play. The Aggies drop to 13-7 on the season and 8-2 in the WAC.
UTSA hit .238 en route to its sixth sweep of the season. Meanwhile, the Aggies, who were swept for the fourth time this season, were limited to a .175 hitting percentage.
McKenzie Adams posted a match-high 16 kills, while Brandy Huskey dished out 37 assists. Dempsey Thornton chipped in 11 kills and Annie Kunes posted a match-high 22 digs.
Utah State received double-doubles from Shay Sorensen (15 kills, 11 digs) and Paige Neves (34 assists, 12 digs).
San Jose State 3, Texas State 0
San Jose State swept Texas State (25-17, 25-20, 25-23) Monday night in a WAC match at Spartan Gym. With the win, the Spartans improve to 9-11 overall and 5-5 in the WAC. The Bobcats fall to 10-11 on the season and 5-5 in WAC play.
SJSU hit .287 on the match, compared to the .086 of Texas State. The Spartans also had more kills (41-26), assists (37-24), digs (53-45) and blocks (5.5-5). The Bobcats had six service aces to the Spartans' four.
Alex Akana led all players with 10 kills on .750 hitting. Mary Alice
O'Reilly hit .389 with nine kills. Samantha O'Connell was just shy of a double-double with nine kills and 13 digs, while Hanah Blume had seven kills and 11 digs.
Texas State was led by Amari Deardorff with six kills, while Patti Bradshaw had 11 digs.
