DENVER - Idaho's Rachel Millet and Paige Hunt have been named the Western Athletic Conference Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for Oct. 1-7.
Millet, a senior from Spokane, Wash. (Ferris H.S.), opened the Vandals season in dominating fashion, winning all three individual events she competed in. Millet hit the wall first in the 200-meter freestyle with a WAC -leading time of 1:52.34. Her first-place time of 2:06:24 in the 200-meter IM also comes in as the WAC's top time of the early season. Millet's final first-place time came in the 100-meter freestyle, where she swam a 51.99, edging out the second-place finisher by .63 seconds. She also raced in the 200-meter medley relay, finishing third as a team with a time of 1:47.19.
Hunt, a senior from Mesa, Ariz. (Mesa CC), recorded a NCAA zone qualifying score of 283.80, claiming the 3-meter event by an almost 23 point margin. Hunt finished fifth in the 1-meter event scoring dives totaling a score of 227.17Other swimmers nominated: Northern Colorado junior Gina Riggle.
