Utah State 3, Denver 2
Utah State bounced back from down two sets to one to defeat conference Denver in five sets (25-23, 21-25, 24-26, 25-21, 15-7) in WAC action Saturday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. With the win, the Aggies improve to 12-5 overall and 7-1 in the WAC. With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 8-9 overall and 2-4 in conference action.

Utah State had more kills (60-58), assists (57-54), service aces (9-4) and digs (75-67) than Denver. The Pioneers edged the Aggies in blocking, 14.5-14.

Rachel Orr led USU with 15 kills, while Shay Sorensen tallied 12 kills and 15 digs for her seventh double-double of the season. Kaitlyn Van Hoff led USU with a match-high 10 blocks, while Paige Neves dished out a match-best 53 assists to go with 11 digs. McKell Staheli posted a match and season-high 18 digs.

Denver was led by Colleeen King with 22 kills, while Bailey Karst dished out 47 assists and Kate Acker posted a team-high 17 digs.


New Mexico State 3, San Jose State 1
New Mexico State defeated San Jose State in four sets (25-21, 25-20, 23-25, 25-23) in Spartan Gym Saturday. With the win, NM State moves to 12-5 on the year and 6-1 in WAC play. SJSU falls to 8-10 on the year and 4-4 in league play.

NM State out-hit the Spartans .267 to .164, and had more kills (56-49), assists (51-48) and digs (60-46), but was out-blocked by San Jose State 14.5-9.

Meredith Hays led the Aggies with a double-double of 14 kills and 12 digs. Lauren Loerch had 11 kills, and Preslie Alexander and Desiree Scott had 10 each. Stephanie Ziegler had 12 digs, while Hannah Walker tallied 11.

The Spartans were led by Hanah Blume with 15 kills and 10 digs, while Samantha O'Connell had 13 kills and Mary Alice O'Reilly had 10 kills and nine blocks.


UTSA 3, UT Arlington 0

McKenzie Adams posted her 11th double-double of the season and UTSA rolled to its second consecutive sweep, defeating UT Arlington 25-18, 25-7 and 25-18 at the Convocation Center on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Roadrunners improve to 12-5 overall and 5-2 in WAC play. The Mavericks drop to 6-13 on the season and 2-5 in the WAC.

UTSA hit .357 in the match and limited the Mavericks to a .083 hitting percentage. The Roadrunners also had more kills (50-25), assists (47-23), digs (63-41) and blocks (8-4).

Adams had 15 digs and 11 kills, while Brandy Huskey had a match-best 31 assists. Annie Kunes logged a match-high 24 digs and Whitney Walls chipped in with 10 kills.

Ashley Bennett led UT Arlington with six kills, while Amanda Welsh dished out 18 assists.


Texas State 3, Louisiana Tech 0
Texas State defeated visiting Louisiana Tech 3-0 (25-21, 26-24, 25-16) for the team's third consecutive victory. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 9-9 overall and 4-3 in the WAC. For Louisiana Tech, the loss was the 21st straight in conference play as the team dropped to 3-16 overall and 0-7 in the WAC.

Texas State out-hit LA Tech .265 to .128. The Bobcats also had more kills (45-36) and assists (42-30), while the Lady Techsters had more digs (46-42). Both teams finished with six blocks for the match. 

Amari Deardorff had a team-high 12 kills. Ashlee Hilbun posted nine kills and Alexandra Simms added eight kills. Laura Whalen led all Bobcats with nine digs, and Hilbun had eight on the afternoon.

Clara Vido led LA Tech with a match-high 13 kills, while Stephany Salas had a match-high 16 digs.
