Two Denver Pioneers are competing at the 2012 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships this week at Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. ... seniors Sophia Bergner (Schechen, Germany) and Steffi Rath (Hochst, Austria) will compete in the qualifying round in doubles beginning Monday, Oct. 1 ... Bergner was eliminated in the pre-qualifying singles by Oklahoma State's CC Sardinha in three sets on Sept. 29 ... DU started the fall season at the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, on Sept. 21-23 ... Bergner went 2-1 in singles and 1-1 in doubles with Rath ... senior Emma Isberg (Tyreso, Sweden), junior Caroline Schnell (Greenwood Village, Colo.), sophomore Michelle Garpenlov (Tyreso, Sweden) and sophomore transfer Mandy van den Eerenbeemt (Best, Netherlands) will compete for DU at the Air Force Invitational on Oct. 5-7.

Idaho boasted champions in two of the four draws at the WSU Cougar Classic in the season-opening tournament Sept. 14-16 ... Almudena Sanz went 5-0 to win the Flight 2 singles championship, while Victoria Lozano and Rita Bermudez went 5-0 in doubles to win the only doubles draw ... Idaho also had a finalist in the No. 3 singles flight as Constance Alexander went 4-1, losing in the finals.

The Aggies kicked off the fall season hosting the Aggie Invitational ... junior Annemieke Witte competed for a title in the singles final of the White bracket against Martina Trierweiler of UTEP, falling in straight sets ... NMSU traveled to San Diego for the SDSU Fall Tennis Classic ... the final day of the tournament was highlighted for the Aggies by a consolation final win by junior Ros-Polly Nguyen ... overall, NM State had a productive weekend in San Diego with six singles wins, all three doubles teams winning one match and Nguyen's consolation final win on the last day.
SAN JOSE STATE
The Spartans picked up eight singles victories at the Cal NIKE Invitational in Berkley, Calif., on Sept. 28-30 ... Chau Truong led the way going 3-1 in the tournament, losing in the quarterfinal round to San Francisco's Marina Nikolic ... Julianna Bacelar and partner Sabastiani Leon Chao advanced to the consolation finals in doubles.

Sarah Lucas won a section of the Cougar Classic's Flight 1 Consolation with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Aurora Garrison of Lewis & Clark ... junior Anna Lambert became the first Seattle U tennis player to beat the No. 1's from both Eastern Washington and Gonzaga in the same tournament at the Cougar Classic ... freshman Dayna Bennett won the BSU Jack Taylor Classic White Flight's Consolations West Draw bracket.
TEXAS STATE
Texas State opened the season with a combined singles record of 25-6 during their first two tournaments this season ... senior Melissa Hadad and junior Jessica Kahts were invited to play in the Midland Racquet Club Invitational ... Hadad finished the tournament with a 1-1 record after advancing to the 32 round ... Kahts advanced to the round of 16 with 1-1 record after receiving a bye in the opening round ... the Bobcats also won 23 of their 27 singles matches at the UTSA Roadrunner Invitational ... Kahts, Hadad, senior Mariana Perez, junior Berenice Van den Bergh, sophomores Rachel Baldree and Francesca Bernes completed the tournament with 3-0 records in singles play ... senior Gabriela Rojas and sophomore transfer Monica Pieratt won two of their three matches, while freshman Katy Collins opened her collegiate career with one win.
UT ARLINGTON
Senior Giada D'Ortona stepped up big for the Mavs as she was able to make it to the final round of singles play ... freshman Katarina Dikosavljevic also competed well winning the back draws against two fierce competitors ... Dikosavljevic was joined by Elizabeth Thoms for doubles play and the two freshmen showed some promising competition as the duo went 2-2 at the tournament.
UTSA
UTSA participated in two tournaments in September ... UTSA hosted its annual Roadrunners Fall Tournament on the final weekend of the month ... freshmen Alena Schichkova and Jacobea Junger each netted their first career singles victories in the opening month of the fall season.
UTAH STATE
McKenzie Davis won both singles and doubles titles at the Jack Taylor Classic at Boise State ... she has only lost one singles match this fall compiling a 7-1 record ... Utah State will conclude fall play at the ITA Regionals tournament next week in Las Vegas. Action will begin Oct. 10 at the Darling Tennis Center.
