WAC Volleyball Player of the Week Announced
The Othello, Wash. native posted a pair of double-doubles as the Vandals went 2-0 on the week for the first time all season. Baker averaged WAC bests of 5.83 points and 5.33 kills to go along with 2.44 digs and 0.56 blocks per set. She opened the week with her 10th double-double of the season with 19 kills and 12 digs in a five-set win over Texas State. Baker then led Idaho to a four-set victory over UTSA, giving the Roadrunners just their second WAC loss of the season. In that contest, she posted her 11th double-double of the season with a career-high 29 kills on .329 hitting to go along with 10 digs and four blocks. Baker has had double-digit kills in all 16 of Idaho’s matches this season and has passed the 20-kill mark on six occasions.
Other nominees included: Faimie Kingsley of Denver averaged 1.62 kills on .435 hitting to go along with 1.88 blocks per set ... Louisiana Tech’s Caitlin Germany averaged 1.71 kills and 1.14 blocks per set last week ... Desiree Scott of New Mexico State averaged 2.75 kills on .545 hitting and 0.88 blocks per set as the Aggies remained the only unbeaten team in WAC play ... Seattle U’s Kaytlyn Dill posted a pair of double-doubles and averaged 4.71 kills and 2.86 digs per set ... Taylor Gross of UT Arlington averaged 2.71 kills on .375 hitting last week ... UTSA’s McKenzie Adams averaged 5.12 kills and 4.50 digs per set as the Roadrunners went 1-1 on the week ... Amari Deardorff of Texas State averaged 3.38 kills and 0.62 blocks per set as the Bobcats went 1-1 on the week ... Utah State’s Josselyn White averaged 3.86 kills and 3.86 digs per set in helping the Aggies to a 2-0 mark on the week.
