"It's always nice to open conference play at home. We came out with a lot of fire," head coach Jeff Hooker said. "I think we started with a lot of energy. I don't think we played well defensively in the first 10 minutes, but our energy made up for it."

The win puts the Bobcats at 1-0-0 in the WAC. With just over six minutes to go, Lynsey Curry intercepted a punt from Idaho goalkeeper Liz Boyden. She then went at her 1-on-1, and put it on the ground past Boyden for the 2-1 lead.

"We played very well and we did everything we could do but score," said head soccer coach Blair Quinn. The Aggies' record now stands at 1-7-3 and are 0-0-1 in conference play. Utah State now sits at 5-2-5 and is also 0-0-1 in conference play.

SAN ANTONIO - (UTSA Media Relations) Sophomore Liv Nyhegn put UTSA on top early in the second half, but Seattle rallied for the equalizer and the teams battled to a 1-1 tie on Friday night in a rainy Western Athletic Conference (WAC) opener for both squads. After a scoreless opening stanza, the Roadrunners (1-7-1, 0-0-1 WAC) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute when Nyhegn scored off a rebound near the goal. Junior Anka Grotle started the play with a shot that bounced off the crossbar before Nyhegn popped the ball over the head of goalkeeper Brianna Smallidge and into the back of the net for her first goal of the season.
