HONOLULU - (Nevada Media Relations) The University of Nevada (31-22, 11-6 WAC) baseball team  had  to play extra innings to earn a share of the 2012 Western Athletic Conference Championship on Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium defeating Hawai`i (29-23, 9-8 WAC) 4-2 in 10 innings.  With the victory the Wolf Pack improved to 11-6 in conference play and is assured of a share of their first WAC baseball title.  A victory on Saturday would earn the Pack an outright conference championship.

Nevada and Sacramento State both have 11 wins but the Hornets have concluded WAC play at 11-7.  New Mexico State (9-7) could possible catch the Wolf Pack and Hornets to make it a three way tie for first.

With the game tied at 2-2 in the top of the 10th inning Pack freshman Jay Anderson dropped down a bunt single and advanced to second on a throwing error.  Jamison Rowe's sacrifice bunt moved Anderson to third base where he scored on Waipahu, Hawaii native Kewby Meyer's sacrifice fly to put the Pack up 3-2.  With two down Brooks Klein doubled and scored Garrett Yrigoyen single to make it 4-2.

FRESNO, Calif.
-(FS Media Relations)  Senior righthander Cody Kendall pitched seven strong innings and senior second baseman Patrick Hutcheson hit a walk-off two-run homer to clinch a 12-2 run-rule win for the Fresno State baseball team over Louisiana Tech on all-around great Friday night at Beiden Field.

The `Dogs tallied seven runs in the deciding seventh inning, denying visiting Louisiana Tech an opportunity to come to bat in the eighth.

Kendall, who was called upon after starter Tyler Linehan left the game due to a first inning injury and faced just one batter, pitched lights out from the get-go.

Kendall took his warm-up tosses and entered the contest with a runner on first and promptly induced a groundball double-play before ending the inning with a strikeout. It was smooth sailing from there as Kendall allowed four hits and two unearned runs, while striking out seven.

SAN JOSE, Calif. - (NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State baseball team (33-20, 9-7 WAC) helped it's own cause by defeating San Jose State (22-27, 5-11 WAC) 3-1 at Municipal Stadium in San Jose, Calif., Friday, May 18.

The Aggies got the upper-hand in what turned out to be a pitchers' dual with junior left-hand starter Ryan Beck picking up his fifth win after allowing one run on three hits in seven and two-thirds innings.  Coffman earned win No. 7 of the year as he worked one and one-third of an inning with out giving up a hit. Beck tallied five K's against the Spartans and now has a WAC-high 93 on the year.  Coffman's save gives him 21 on his career, while he needs two more to tie the single season record. Beck's win is his 18th-career, tying him for seventh on the all-time list and he now has 218 K's during his three years with the Aggies.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. –(Sacramento State Media Relations)  The Sacramento State baseball team was out-hit 16-4 on Friday afternoon and lost to UNLV, 12-0, in the first game of a non-conference series at John Smith Field.

The loss snapped the Hornets' four-game winning streak as they defeated Saint Mary's and swept Hawai'i in a three-game series last week.

The Hornets (29-24) play the Rebels twice more this weekend to close out the regular season. Sacramento State has clinched a spot on the Western Athletic Conference Tournament in Mesa, Ariz., next week, but won’t know its seed until two other series conclude.

In their quest for a WAC regular season title, the second-place Hornets got some help on Thursday night as Hawai’i defeated first-place Nevada, 2-0. If the Rainbows win one more game, the Hornets will jump the Wolf Pack for first. Sacramento State also needs San Jose State to defeat New Mexico State at least once in a three-game series, which starts on Friday night. If New Mexico State sweeps the Spartans, the Aggies will have the same record as the Hornets and will hold the tiebreaker after taking 2-of-3 in Sacramento earlier this season.
