FRESNO, Calif. - (FS Media Relations)  The Fresno State baseball team used a big seven-run seventh inning and another strong outing by senior pitcher Thomas Harlan to fuel the Bulldogs' 8-6 win over the Sacramento State Hornets on Sunday afternoon in Western Athletic Conference action.

"We were really good at the plate, aggressive and ran the bases well today," Fresno State head baseball coach Mike Batesole said.

Harlan struck out five Hornets, scattered six hits and allowed just two runs in 7.1 solid innings of work while mixing his pitches and speeds effectively all afternoon.

"We're starting to play together like we knew we could, hopefully we can keep it going," Harlan said. "We just want to keep it moving, keep it pushing forward. Never be satisfied, ever, as a team."

Louisiana Tech 4, San Jose State 1

RUSTON, La. -(LT Media Relations)  Alex Williams hit his 11th home run of the season in the first inning and Trevor Petersen allowed just one run in seven innings as Louisiana Tech (23-23, 6-9 WAC) defeated San Jose State (21-22, 5-7 WAC), 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.

The Bulldogs swept its first series of the season and first such series since May 7-9, 2010 (vs. Nevada) and have now won five consecutive conference games.

"Trevor got thru the first inning and that was key. He has pitched well in his last few outings and continued that today." said head coach Wade Simoneaux. "He and Gilley pitched great. Gilley continues to throw his pitch."

Petersen (5-4) picked up his fifth win on the year after allowing just one run in 7.0 innings. The junior right-hander allowed a first inning run before shutting down the Spartans offense thru the next 6.0 innings. Jamie Gilley was credited with his second save on the year after striking out five in 2.0 scoreless innings to complete the three-game sweep on SJSU. Zack Jones (3-3) was charged with his third loss after allowing four runs in 4.0 innings.

BELLEVUE, Wash.  – (Nevada Media Relations) The University of Nevada (26-21) baseball team won Sunday’s game over Seattle (21-20) at Bannerwood Park 8-5 to avoid the series sweep.  With the victory the Wolf Pack improved to 26-21 while the Redhawks fell to 21-20.

Trailing 4-3 after three innings the Pack scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning as part of five unanswered runs in the three-run victory.  The Redhawks loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth but were only able to score on run to make the final score 8-5.

Senior Jayson McClaren (1-1) pitched 2.2 scoreless innings to earn his first win of the season.  Garrett Anderson (6-4) suffered the loss giving up five runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings on the mound.

Jay Anderson (3-for-4,2R,RBI), Kewby Meyer (3-for-4,R,2RBI) and Carlos Escobar (3-for-5,3R) each had three hits as the Pack totaled 14 in the game.  Brett Jones (1-for-3,3RBI) drove in a game-high three.  Meyer and Jamison Rowe (1-for-3,R,2RBI) each had two RBI in the game.
