DENVER - Hawai'i quarterback Bryant Moniz, Hawai'i defensive lineman Paipai Falemalu and New Mexico State kick returner Taveon Rogers were named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference offensive, defensive and special teams players of the week, respectively.

Moniz, a senior from Wahiawa, O'ahu (Fresno City College), led the team in both rushing and passing in Hawai'i's 34-17 win over Colorado on Saturday.  Moniz completed 20-of-33 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown while adding a career-high 121 rushing yards on 14 carries with three more scores.  His long run of the day was for 57 yards and a touchdown to give the Warriors a 10-0 lead in the second quarter.

Falemalu, a junior from Hau'ula, O'ahu (Kahuku HS), tallied six tackles (5 solo), including three for a loss in the game against Colorado.  Falemalu had two solo sacks for a loss of 14 yards and added another tackle for loss in helping to hold Colorado to just 17 rushing yards and a total of 240 offensive yards.

Rogers, a senior from Lancaster, Calif. (Lancaster HS), returned four kickoffs for 177 yards in New Mexico State's game against Ohio.  He had his first return for a touchdown in the third quarter that went for a career-long 97 yards. Rogers had a total of 259 all-purpose yards in the game as he also caught five passes for 92 yards and another touchdown.

Others nominated on offense: junior running back Robbie Rouse, Fresno State; junior receiver Mike Scott, Idaho; senior wide receiver Todd Lee, New Mexico State; and freshman quarterback Chuckie Keeton, Utah State.

Also nominated on defense: sophomore cornerback L.J. Jones, Fresno State; junior cornerback Aaron Grymes, Idaho; junior defensive back Dave Clark, Louisiana Tech; senior safety Donyae Coleman, New Mexico State; and senior linebacker Bobby Wagner, Utah State.

Other special teams nominations included: freshman offensive lineman Cody Wichmann, Fresno State; sophomore safety Trey Williams, Idaho; junior kick returner Lyle Fitte, Louisiana Tech; and sophomore placekicker Josh Thompson, Utah State.
